The holidays are coming…
Have you been looking at the calendar? The holidays are getting closer and closer. There are a lot of people who depend on charitable donations to make their holidays joyful, and many of these donations need to be received by the appointed organizations before Thanksgiving. So, if you are interested in participating, the time is now to shop sales and plan your giving strategy. Here are ideas to get you started:
- Local churches often support a program, which involves packing a shoebox full of Christmas goodies. Think of it as a stocking in a box. You select the age and gender of the child and shop accordingly. You can store all non-food items with us. Contact your local church to see if they are participating.
- Many stores begin an “Angel Tree” program at this time a year. Children make their Christmas wishes known and these are displayed as angel cards on a tree. Shoppers select an angel and return the gift and tag to the store. In order for the stores to get the treat to the appropriate recipient by Christmas, they usually require you to deliver it by December 1.
- The Salvation Army is most famous for the ringing of bells outside a wide variety of business establishments. Did you also know they have a Christmas stocking program? You pick up a stocking at your local headquarters, fill it with goodies and indicate the age/gender of the proposed recipient. Don’t worry about where to put everything until it is time to donate, since we have lots of space here.
